Pico Lasers

Pico lasers are a group of new revolutionary lasers which fire at pico seconds or one trillionth of a second. They are non-ablative laser and therefore do not have the downtime of ablative lasers. Pico lasers target melanin, tattoos, improve certain acne scars, sun-damaged skin and age spots.

Due to selectivity of the laser light based on wavelength and pulse duration the effects of the laser energy is concentrated at its target. The laser delivers a strong non-thermal photomechanical effect by combining high peak power and ultra-short pulse duration to shatter the target at varying depths without damage to the surrounding tissue.

What pico laser do we have?

After trialling six pico lasers we have chosen the Cutera Enlighten. We believe Cutera Enlighten deliver superior results to the other pico lasers currently on the market. Cutera Enlighten delivers higher peak powers at all three wavelengths than its competitors in general.

What conditions can the Cutera treat?

Cutera Enlighten can treat benign pigmented lesions such as freckles, flat moles, multicolour tattoos, acne scars, stretch marks, reduce pore sizes and rejuvenate  your skin.

Is the laser treatment uncomfortable?

No. In fact there is no need for topical anaesthetic gel. We sometimes use a cooling device but most patients do not need it.

Is there any downtime?

No. No one can tell that you have any treatment. You can go back to your normal activities immediately.
